The (Outsider) Art: Show, featuring five reclusive artists, opens on Friday, April 29th, at Eye Level Art (103 Spring Street) from 6 to 10 p.m.

What is Outsider Art, you may ask. It's the theory of visionary art, which consists of abstract works that play off the artist's internal conflicts. Typically, visionary art is reserved for those artists that are outsiders--removed from the norms of society. Hence the name Outsider Art.

Works by artists Jan Boyer, Alfred Eaker, Casey McGlynn, Mark Miller, and Tom Sassano will be featured at the exhibition, and there isn't one particular theme connecting these artists and their works of arts. The art ranges from religious to humorous to dark--it's all there.

Want to feast your eyes on something out of the ordinary? Stop by the exhibition. For more information, check out this in-depth report by Charleston City Paper, or visit Eye Level Art's website.
