Don't miss the N. Charleston Arts Festival art walk

Take a stroll in the Olde Village area of East Montague Avenue through businesses, pubs, studios, and salons to see works by local artists during the North Charleston Arts Festival Art Walk on Wednesday, May 9. Admission and parking are free.

Original art and fine craft, ranging from traditional to contemporary, will be displayed in the common areas of participating businesses from 5 - 8 p.m.. Exhibiting artists include Marcus Colburn, Arianne King Comer, Camy Guevara, Steve Hazard, James Hill, Philip Hyman, Anne Keen, Bill Mead, Karin Olah, Pedro Rodriguez, Ben Timpson, Sean Williams, Kim West, and students from the Charleston County School of the Arts. Several members of the North Charleston Artist Guild will be on hand selling a variety of handcrafted items including jewelry, accessories, letterpress cards, pieces for home and garden, soaps, and more.

Enjoy live music by The Local Honeys (cowgirl songs, cheerful ukulele pop, and organic Americana) and Sing the Body Electric! (popular jazz standards and personal favorites in a modern style) throughout the evening. Columbia-based artist, Peter Driscoll, will demonstrate the art of scrimshaw and provide a brief lecture on the art form at 6 p.m. Ninja SHEEP, Command Performance Productions, and Karen DeLoach will host a screening of original short films by Lowcountry student filmmakers from 7 - 8 p.m. at the Olde Village Community Building, located at 4820 Jenkins Avenue. Additionally, artists participating in the annual Art & Fine Craft Co-Op Gallery at the Meeting Place, 1077 East Montague Avenue, will host a public reception with refreshments during the Art Walk. Other attractions include face painting, children’s activities, and a living statue. It’s an evening of art and culture for the whole family!
