Update January 24: The Charleston City Paper's got a post Girl Talk review and from the sound of it, it was one hell of a sweaty, loud light show saturated dance party.

Sounds about right!

Here's the review which also features a few photos from the concert.

First reporting: Master of the mashup, Gregg Gillis aka Girl Talk, will be making a stop in the Lowcountry on January 22nd, bringing his dance friendly tunes to an unlikely Charleston venue.

Girl Talk rarely performs in seated venues. The Gaillard Municapal Auditorium, probably best know for hosting the Charleston Symphony and various performances for Spoleto Festival USA, will provide a unique setting for Gillis’ notoriously raucous show.

“This ended up being sort of a last resort venue,” said a representative from Girl Talk’s booking agency via email, “There is no way to remove the seats…It will definitely not be not be a typical Girl Talk Show.”

But fans shouldn’t be deterred by the lack of dance space. “He is bringing a ton of amazing stuff - a giant video wall, a semi-truck full of lights, etc.,” the representative also stated, “so it should still be a great time.”

Tickets are going fast, and can be purchased via ticketmaster. Also check out Girl Talk’s newest release All Day which is available as a free download from illegal-art.net.
