SCOOP Studios proudly announces a closing reception for their newest artist Lisa Shimko on Friday, May 28th, coinciding with the opening of Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto.

This exciting event is free and open to the public from the hours of 5 to 8 p.m. at 57 1/2 Broad Street. Refreshments will be served and the artist will be in attendance.

Lisa Shimko’s solo show entitled, Things Grow Here, provides an intimate perspective on the relationship between humans, animals, and the environment that surrounds us. The vivid acrylic colors applied to both board and canvas create images of nature which are intended to provoke thoughts on processes of food production, treatment of the environment, and the organisms which are directly effected through these choices.

Shimko is self described as somewhere between realist and abstract allowing each piece to have an enchanting beauty deeply rooted in current social issues.

Gallery hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday and Monday by chance or appointment.
