Downtown gets a new jazz spot: Alluette's Jazz Cafe (updated)

Update June 28: The cafe has been dishing up lunch, dinner, and jazz seven-days-a-week for about a month now, and The Post and Courier has added a flattering write-up about the spot. It's a good read if you have yet to try the spot.

First Reporting: 

Already locally renown for their wholesome food Alluette's Cafe is expanding and opening up Alluette's Jazz Cafe on Calhoun Street this weekend.

They're doing a soft, private launch tonight.

After that they'll do local jazz and blues artists with the occassional renowned artist, featuring live music with their house band Oscar Rivers Trio on Friday and Saturday evenings. On Thursday evenings Calvin Taylor will entertain. They'll be expanding to include Wednesday night jam sessions, poetry slams and maybe even comedy.

The Food will be a simple and local organic fare, pared with organic red and white wines and organic beers.

The jazz cafe is located at 137 Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston.
