From the Facebook event:

An art opening featuring the artwork of Matthew Dietz, Shawna-Nova Foley, Gavin Lyons, Scott Wallace, and Ryan Wilcox. This event is free to the public and features a handful of artists from the Holy City showing their work within the friendly confines of The Oak Barrel Tavern, one of Charleston's most intimate bars that has quickly become a favorite neighborhood watering hole for the denizens of the Avondale neighborhood in West Ashley.

This exhibition is a chance for friends from a variety of different arts and entertainment communities in Charleston to juxtapose their visual output together in a single space and explore the ensuing harmonious clash of style and subject. But they also want to engage in a battle for artistic supremacy and talk a little trash. On a serious note this motley crew of creative types want to see what kind of unique conversation will develop between their respective art projects and amongst the audience who will take in the visual splendor. On the fun side, the artists want everyone at the Oak Barrel that night to help them decide whose art packs the biggest visual punch. Every attendee will be given stickers to put the SMACKDOWN for the artist or artwork of their choice. At the end of the evening, all the votes will be tallied and the title of Saturday Super Summer Solstice Smackdown champion will be crowned, to his or her fame and glory. But there will be no shame for the other competitors, only more good times and good friends at a great place to hang out.

Hors d'oeuvres will be provided and the Oak Barrel will also be celebrating the 2012 Summer Solstice with seasonal beer specials throughout the evening.
