If you're up for road trip this weekend, you should head on up to the 2010 Pageland Watermelon Festival.

Thousands of visitors come from all over the southeast to enjoy the parade, carnival, beauty pageants, live music, food, car and motorcycle shows and crafts in the watermelon capitol of the world.

One of the main streets in town is closed off for the festivities that run day and night. Naturally there will be loads of watermelon related contests like seed spitting and who can gobble to most melon in 90 seconds. The two-day festival begins today and wraps up Saturday evening around 11 p.m. You can take a look at the schedule of events for both days right here.

The Pageland Watermelon Festival is located on Pearl Street in downtown Pageland.
