The Jazz Artists of Charleston, along with the the College of Charleston School of the Arts are sponsoring the New York Standards Quartet this Saturday.

This is sure to be an incredible performance, featuring the very group that marked JAC’s first appearance as a presenting organization in March of 2008.

Pianist David Berkman, drummer Gene Jackson, tenor saxophonist Tim Armacost, and bassist Yosuke Inoue, make up the, New York Standards Quartet. The band, assembled by tenor sax man Tim Armacost, came together in the fall of 2006. As a band, the New York based unit has developed a near telepathic relationship, playing together in a variety of settings, including in some of the most prominent clubs in New York City. Conceptually, NYSQ strives to develop its own language within the tradition of the standard jazz repertoire.

The concert will be taking place at 8 p.m. in College of Charleston Recital Hall, locaed inside the Simons Center for the Arts. Tickets are on sale now and are $10 for students and $20 general admission.
