Update November 8: Check out our video of the fair. And don't worry if you weren't able to make it this year, despite some concerns the fair looks like it will be hear for years to come.

Original post: For 10 days the Coastal Carolina Fair will carry us through not only Halloween but the tumultuous election. The 52nd edition kicks off Thursday, October 30, at 3 p.m. and ends Saturday, November 8.

Elephants, fireworks, a petting zoo, a circus, and (of course) many rides are all part of the daily entertainment. They also have a number of contests. The fair will also have nightly performances from the likes of Three Dog Night and the Gin Blossoms.

Admission is $5 for children and $8 for adults. 25 "ride tickets" are $20.

The Post and Courier went to the fair last year and has a good write-up about the rides and the fair as a whole, as well as a fun little video.

The fair is on Highway 78 in Ladson. Get a Google Map of the site, and get loads more info about the fair at their Web site. Also check out The Post and Courier's preview of the fair.

Update October 29: ABC News 4 talks a bit about safety efforts at the fair, perhaps spurred by the fatality at the State Fair.
