Come watch festively (and brightly) lit boats while digging into some oysters during Charleston 29th Annual Holiday Parade of Boats.
They say:
Come enjoy oysters, burgers and other delectable delights as you view a holiday tradition - the Holiday Parade of Boats - as lighted boats compete on the water for best design. All proceeds go to benefit the outreach programs of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
To get into the oyster roast viewing party at the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina in Mount Pleasant is $10 for adults, $5 students. Festivities go to 10:30 p.m.
Catch the parade starting in Mount Pleasant at 5 p.m., or downtown's peninsula at 6:30 p.m.
They are spectacular and by the year the spectacle goes greater and greater. There are many boat owners excited to participate to this parade. Some of them prepare their boats starting from autumn, they get the replacement parts for boats they need, they paint and they tune so that everything goes perfect in a day like this. Let's hope the tradition stays alive the years to come.
