Southern blues tradition continues at Freshfields Village

James Cotton, three-time Grammy winner hits the stage at 5:15 p.m.

Blues musicians from around the world will step on the stage at Freshfields Village on Sunday, April 10th for Blues by the Sea. This is the seventh year for this free event, which will run from 2 to 7 p.m.

Taking the stage (in the following order):

2 p.m. Marcelo Ponce y Vivian Dallas - This husband and wife duo is not your average South American band. Marcelo Ponce is a professionally trained guitar player and music professor from Argentina. Both have been trained in American folk music, and will be performing vintage blues and gospel.

3:30 p.m. Ike & Val Woods - Husband and wife, Ike and Val Woods, will make their Charleston debut performing a blend of urban blues, R&B, vintage soul and Florida funk.

5:15 p.m. James Cotton - This legendary, three-time Grammy-winning harmonica master from Mississippi will headline the event and join his band and Darrell Nulisch to perform original, blues songs.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Also, bring a lawn chair or blanket and put your dancing shoes on! This event is sponsored by The Town of Kiawah Island.
