A Food Tuck Festival with music, vendors, fun coming to Marion Square (Update: Success)

Update February 5: The weather was fantastic and the food event better and the turnout great for Charleston's first Food Truck Festival.

A smattering of posts abound, but the better coverage I've seen comes by way of ABC News 4's report.

First reporting: The Charleston food truck community is continuing to rally together and on February 4th the mobile food-dishing army will unite for a Food Truck Festival.

The trucks of different origin will be offering items ranging from roast duck Gumbo, local curried veggies, Chicago style beef, lemon pepper chicken wings, hot ham and Swiss, sweet cherry snoballs, chocolate and cheddar crepes, beer braised BBQ, grilled tuna tacos, huge Belgium waffles, meatball parm, spicy mac n' cheese, to blueberry glazed doughnuts.

And they'll all be up for grabs in the heart of downtown Charleston at Marion Square on Saturday, February 4, from 12 to 6 p.m.

In the words of the even promoters, the event will feature "the local food trucks you have come to know and love, but will also highlight a local vendor section for mingling during the festival. With the feel of an off-season Farmer's Market, some of the creative participants include Tucker's Treats selling goodies for your pup, The Sustainable Warehouse showing off some of their recycled and refurbished furniture, Crop Up answering your questions and helping you design your new garden, as well as a handful of local farmers, jewelry designers, and your favorite Charleston artists."

There will also be live music with stage performances by Vini Youngblood (Folly famous jam and funk), Nathan Steven & Hector Salazar (tribal roots duo), Old You (female driven rock n' roll), Robert Word (acoustic and classic guitar) Butter Toast (reggae rock and groove).

Kids activities include the ever popular jump castle, face painting, a balloon artist and a "Kid's Corner" sponsored by Sweet Pea Nanny Agency. A coffee bar will be sponsored by LOCAL coffee shop to keep you alert all day with a plethora of caffeinated beverages, hot and cold.

LOCAL will also sponsor the official after-party from 7pm to midnight with a "Naked Fish" art show and wine reception. Their address is 1331 Ashley River Road. Just look for the coffee truck!
