Also worth a look is NBC News 2's video from the rodeo that also discusses the challenges in finding places to hold such events; watch that here.

First reporting: Charleston's food trucks — they're so hot right now.

If you're hungry for what the trucks have got, you're in luck. The Charleston Food Truck Federation is hosting its second official Food Truck Rodeo on Sunday, May 1st, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mixson’s great lawn.

This month’s brunch-themed event will serve the best local food on four wheels, including:

  • The Little Blue Brunch Truck – Home of the famous Diggity Doughnuts, this bright teal food truck features vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-friendly curbside brunch fare, including a variety of Diggity Doughnut flavors du jour.
  • Roti Rolls – Roti Rolls blends exotic flavors with locally sourced, organic meat and veggies wrapped in house-made Indian flatbreads.
  • Hello My Name is BBQ – The Charleston-based mobile truck fires up traditional Southern barbecue and sides using a griddle on the go.
  • Happy Camper Snoballs – A traveling vintage 1965 camper houses this snoball stand, merging inventive flavors with classic New Orleans-style iced treats.

In addition to the mobile meals, guests will also enjoy native La Bubbly sparkling wine and fresh mimosas from Social Wine Bar, as well as a menu challenge starring Giddy Goat Cheese, live music, and a raffle for a complimentary custom-made beach cruiser from Affordabike.

Food trucks accept cash only, and free parking is available. Mixson also offers an on-site, off-leash dog park, and leashed dogs are welcome throughout the property.
