On Saturday, July 10, disc golfers from across the Carolinas will converge on the disc golf course at Trophy Lakes on Johns Island to raise money and awareness for a People Against Rape.

The Charleston Disc Golf Club (CDGC) currently has 100 members and it is expected to draw 72 to 96 players for the tournament – all supporting the efforts of People Against Rape.

According to tournament director Robert Ley, “If it weren’t for the local community, the CDGC wouldn’t have courses to play on.  So anytime we can give back it is great.  It is great honor to be able to give to People Against Rape, an organization that gives so much to the tri-county area.”

Thanks to the hard work of Mr. Ley, the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) and the South Carolina Disc Golf Organization (SCDGO) have sanctioned the tournament, so this year’s inaugural tournament will become a regular event and players can earn points for the South Carolina points championship.

The tournament will kick off at 10 a.m. on July 10th with player registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Players will enjoy a lunch between rounds courtesy of the board of People Against Rape, and the public is invited to join the after “PAR-Tee” with the music by  local favorites The Diesel Brothers and Guest MC, Brooke Ryan, of 95SX 2 Girls and a Guy from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sponsors for the Par 4 PAR already confirmed for the event include:  Audio Sound Specialists, Trophy Lakes, and Discraft.  Sponsorship levels start at just $50 and offer the chance for Lowcountry businesses to display your business logo at one of the 36 tee pads throughout the course.
