4th annual Run for Adela 5K Beach Run/Walk will benefit Camp Happy Days and Charleston Waterkeeper

The 4th annual Run for Adela 5K Beach Run & Walk is set for Saturday, April 13, on Sullivan's Island.

The family friendly 3.1 mile run/walk (5K) is held on the beach starting at Station 16 at 8 a.m and is held in memory of Adela Holmes Cook, an 18-year-old Charleston native who passed away in 2009 due to injuries sustained in a golf cart accident.

More than 900 registrants supported the 2012 and we expect to graciously exceed that number this year. Proceeds from the race will benefit Camp Happy Days and Charleston Waterkeeper. For more information, please visit www.runforadela.com

Awards M/F: Top 3, first master, first grandmaster, up to 3 deep in each age group. Age Groups: 5K: 9 & Under, 10­‐13, 14­‐17, 18­‐24, 25­‐29, 30­‐34, 35­‐39, 40­‐44, 45­‐59, 50­‐54, 55-59, 60­‐69, 70+. Prizes include bicycles, weekend getaway at Wild Dunes Resort, and gift certificates from restaurants, spas and other businesses all over the Charleston area.

Weather: Usually mild and ideal for running, temp 50-70°, humidity 45-60%.

Race Services: Fluids at S/F and at ½ way. Splits at key mile marks. Post-race food and refreshments provided for participants and awards ceremony to follow.
