Charleston's "best dive since 1955," is showing their support for injured SC Stingray player Kirk Daubenspeck by hosting a fund raiser this Sunday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

On Thursday, February 17th, 2011 former South Carolina Stingray Kirk Daubenspeck was critically injured in a car-semi collision while heading to work. Kirk remained in a coma for over six days and is still in serious condition as a result of severe head trauma. He is making progress but still has a long way to go.

Kirk and his wife Peggy are close friends of the bar and Kirk worked the door for us off and on during the summers. We at Big John's want to do anything we can. Peggy and Kirk have a son and one on the way and we want to make sure Kirk can enjoy watching his kids grow up.

We invite everyone to come down and swing by even just for a little bit on Sunday to help us raise money for Kirk's medical bills. Former teammate Dave Seitz will be guest bartending behind the bar on Sunday night and plenty of former and current Stingrays will be on hand as well. We will have $1 Bud Light drafts, $3 Grand Marnier and Jagermeister for you to enjoy! We will also be doing raffles for great South Carolina Stingray and Charleston items.

Big John's Tavern is a family and one of our family members needs us. Even if you don't know Kirk swing on in and just enjoy some good times. Thank you to everyone and we hope to see you on Sunday March 13th.
