Charleston holds its annual back-to-school festival (updated)

First reporting:

Today, Sunday, August 16th, the City of Charleston is holding its 7th annual First Day Festival from 1 to 4 p.m.

Some 9,000 are expected to turn out for fun and information about the forthcoming school year.

The festival offers food, face painting, kids areas, tours of the aquarium and Fort Sumter, free boat rides, performers, free school supplies, and $1 parking at the S.C. Aquarium and Gaillard garages.

The event is held at the Liberty Square at the S.C. Aquarium and the Charleston Maritime Center.
