Updates at the bottom.
There's a new magazine on the scene that explores the intertwining of physical desire and food, and they're doing a little road trip to various farmers markets -- and Charleston made the list.
What exactly is this "Food + Sex?" They say: "a combined effort of artists, writers, farmers and foodmakers exploring how desire shapes what we grow, make and eat."
That statement, much like the magazine, is wistful, literary, and a bit conceptual.
You can preview the first issue over here. If you like what you see, you can buy it and/or drop by the Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square on Saturday, September 19. They should be there from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Preview has added an in-depth preview of the magazine and its Charleston connection; read it here.
Also be sure to scroll all the way down where they note that the magazine's creator, Mark Gravel, will be doing a little bean event on Friday. Yeah, a bean event, or more aptly a "Bean-in."
Update September 17, part 2: The Charleston City Paper has expanded details on the bean-in; read about it here.
