Update April 15th: Starting Saturday, April 21, and going until Sunday the 29th, admission to all national parks around the country will be free during National Park Week.

Unfortunately there aren't any National Parks in Horry County; however, there are several great national parks just down the road in Charleston. We couldn't think of a  better reason for a road trip. Get out of town and explore the great state of South Carolina, all of its natural beauty, and rich history.

If you journey down to Charleston make sure to check out Fort Sumter, you'll be in good company as the destination has been very popular of late.

There will be special events and activities including Volunteer Day on April 21, Earth Day on April 22, and Junior Ranger Day on April 28. From ranger-led hikes and kayak trips to camping and exploring, park visitors can plan their National Park Week atwww.nationalparkweek.org

First Report January 9th: Myrtle Beach on the Cheap is featuring a great national event this weekend. Starting Saturday, January 14, 2012 and going until Monday the 16th, admission to all national parks around the country will be free.

Sadly, there are none in the Myrtle Beach area, but we couldn't think of a better reason for a road trip. Get out of town and explore the great state of South Carolina, all of its natural beauty, and rich history.
