From a Charleston Symphony Orchestra performance to the annual memorial parade, Charleston will honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. throughout the coming weekend.

Over the next several days, multiple events will be taking place across the city to commemorate the life and service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Some of the highlights include:

• A Charleston Symphony Orchestra program entitled, "This Little Light of Mine: I'm Gonna Let it Shine," at the Royal Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston on Saturday, January 19 at 7 p.m.
• The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Parade on Monday, January 21, at 11 a.m. The parade will start at Burke Middle High School and end at Marion Square.
• The Black History Intercollegiate Consortium’s observance of MLK Day, recognizing South Carolina Representative Wendell Gilliard and South Carolina Senator Robert Ford, along with representatives from Trident Technical College, the Medical University of South Carolina and Charleston Southern University. The event will take place at The Summerall Chapel on The Citadel's campus, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22.
• The Martin Luther King, Jr. Tri-County Ecumenical Service, which will feature keynote speaker Congressman John Lewis and the presentation of the Harvey Gantt Triumph Awards. The service will take place at the Morris Street Baptist Church at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 27.
