The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Motley Rice LLC headquarters near Patriots Point at 28 Bridgeside Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant, on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The blood drive is open to the public, and those interested in donating may register for a donation time by visiting the American Red Cross websiteand entering the sponsor code: “motleyrice.”

This blood drive will help the American Red Cross recover from Hurricane Sandy. While not many people have required blood products because of Sandy, the storm did impact the number of people available to donate. Hurricane Sandy caused the cancellation of 370 American Red Cross blood drives in 13 states, resulting in the loss of 12,500 units of blood and platelets, to date. Hospitals in many areas face blood shortages, and with the holidays approaching, the Red Cross finds it difficult to keep supplies up at a time when donations are pushed aside for shopping and holiday gatherings.

Motley Rice LLC regularly holds blood donation drives per year and is a proud supporter of the American Red Cross corporate volunteer Ready When the Times Comes Program, a disaster preparedness program that trains volunteers from participating corporations and mobilizes them to help in the event of a disaster.
