The new year is here and it's time to put down that muffin!  Myrtle Beach's Recreation Department is ringing in the new year with its 7th Annual Choose Health and Fitness program.  There are three competition choices for individuals and teams: Choose to Lose, Choose to Move and Choose to train.

The 12-week program kicks off this Saturday, January 7, 2012 with a Health and Fitness Fair at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center. With three competition styles, the program has something for everyone.

Choose to Lose, a weight-loss competition, offers encouragement and motivation to keep you on the right path toward your goals. For those with a little competitive side, the recreation competition, Choose to Move, is probably your speed. By promoting an active lifestyle along with combining general fitness, recreational activities and a little friendly competition, it keeps the fun in fitness. For those ready to step up their game, the fitness competition, Choose to Train, is for you. This program offers up to six demanding group workouts a week in a bootcamp-style competition.

Pre-registration is required by the end of today, Wednesday January 4, 2012 at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center. Registration includes membership to the City's recreation centers and fitness classes for the duration of the program. All three competitions offer individual and group prizes.
