Meetings planned on long-term development

Charleston County will hold four public meetings in July, the last chance for people to speak out about the county's 10-year Comprehensive Plan Update.

As reported by the Charleston Regional Business Journal in its Daily Journal, the dates for the meetings will be:

- 6 to 8 p.m. July 14 at Wando High School, 1000 Warrior Way, Mount Pleasant.
- 6 to 8 p.m. July 14 at Rutledge Memorial Baptist Church, 2014 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston.
- 6 to 8 p.m. July 15 at St. John’s High School, 1518 Main Road, Johns Island.
- 6 to 8 p.m. July 15 at Baptist Hill High School, 5117 Baptist Hill Road, Hollywood.

The county will have its last round of public hearings next month on its 10-year Comprehensive Plan Update, which will guide policy on land use, transportation enhancements, priority investment of tax dollars and the construction of community facilities, among other county decisions related to population growth.

If you haven't had your voice heard, go to one of these meetings! Development affects everyone, particularly in such a high-growth area as Charleston County, so go there and let your county officials know how you feel.
