County to hold public meeting on Future Drive

Charleston County is hosting a meeting July 8 on Future Drive Loop, a proposed road in North Charleston to help ease congestion along Ashley Phosphate, Dorchester, and Ladson roads. The project is linked to the Palmetto Commerce Parkway project, on which work has already begun. The public meeting is from 6 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria at R.B. Stall High School:

From The Charleston Regional Business Journal:

The new road, called Future Drive, would connect Palmetto Commerce Parkway to U.S. Highway 78 near Interstate 26. The extension of Northside Drive toward Ladson Road would intersect with Future Drive.

The roadway is designed to reduce congestion on Ladson, Dorchester and Ashley Phosphate roads. It would be funded by the county’s half-cent sales tax for transportation.
