Charleston Scene recently published a very handy list of Fourth of July celebrations taking place in Charleston and the surrounding areas.

Read more stories on this subject in our July 4th topic page.

From Patriots Point to Summerville Town Square to Magnolia Plantation, Scene has done a nice job of highlighting both great spots to watch fireworks displays as well as daytime (non-firework) Independence Day activities. Hop over to their post to see what all is in store.

Some additional Fourth celebrations to take note of:

  • Folly Beach's "4th on the 4th" - Come celebrate the Fourth of July on Folly's 4th Street. Fireworks start around 9.
  • Kiawah Island Fourth of July Fireworks - The Town of Kiawah Island will have their fireworks display at the soccer field in Night Heron Park promptly at 9:15 p.m. Monday, July 4th. Kiawah Golf Resort will have their fireworks display on the beach in front of the Sanctuary at 9:30 Monday, July 4th. In case of inclement weather the fireworks will be on Tuesday, July 5th.
  • Shrimp Records Presents: A Salute to America @ The Pour House - On July 2nd, the Shrimp Records family including Cary Ann Hearst, Michael Trent, Bill Carson, Jack Burg, Jamie Resch, Lee Barbour and Sadler Vaden will be rocking it out Americana style.
  • Salute from the Shore - Beginning at 1 p.m. on the 4th, F-16s of the 77th Fighter Squadron “The Gamblers” of the 20th Fighter Wing stationed at Shaw Air Force Base will conduct a flyover of the SC coast. The flight will cover every beach on the coast before concluding south of Hilton Head Island.

As the big day approaches, there's sure to be even more celebrations posted. Be sure to check back with us periodically for all the updates.

 Update June 30:

The Charleston City Paper has released their 4th of July round-up and it includes a few extra goodies like the 4th of July RiverDogs game and fireworks, the Annual Patriotic Bike Parade and some additional events taking place out on Kiawah.
