If you have any frisky feral felines in your neighborhood, or just want to get your little man snipped? Pet Helpers of Charleston is holding a male cat neuter-a-thon called 'The Tom Cat Blitz' on February 21st.

Here's all you need to know from the press release we received:

Male cats will be neutered for just $15.00 at this event. Two vaccines are required for this service. Cat owners will need to show proof of current Rabies and FVRCP (Distemper combo) vaccinations for their pet, or they may get the vaccines on the day of the surgery. With surgery, the cost for each shot is just $5.00. Microchips will be also available at the reduced rate of $10.00. Cat owners must make an appointment and only tame cats are eligible.

This special Sunday event is just in time for Spay Day USA. Spay Day USA (February 23, 2010) is America’s first and only national day of action to promote the spaying and neutering of pets. Veterinarians and animal welfare organizations join forces nationwide on this day each year to promote spay/neuter as an essential component of good pet health care, in addition to being an effective and humane means of decreasing the euthanasia of homeless animals.

In Charleston County, 10, 616 homeless pets entered shelters in 2009. 4,188 were put down. Pet Helpers urges the community to neuter their cats and help prevent future litters of unwanted kittens. The Tom Cat Blitz makes this normally expensive surgery affordable for all in order to help control the ever-growing population of unwanted kittens and cats in the Lowcountry.

Appointments for Sunday, February 21st are currently available. Please call Pet Helpers Spay Neuter Clinic at 843-302-0556 to secure a spot for your male cat or kitten.
