The Office of Student Life at the College of Charleston will host an Inauguration Watch Party on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Stern Center Ballroom. Members of the campus community are invited to enjoy free food (including some of President Obama’s favorites), Obama-related giveaways and the opportunity to take a picture with Obama (a cut-out of course). It is estimated the oath of office will take place at 11:30 a.m. with the parade following.

In keeping with the themes of history, service and community that have been engrained in events and programs associated with the Presidential Inauguration, the Watch Party will include a canned food drive to benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable items for collection and distribution to families and individuals within the Charleston area. In addition, an exhibition related to the history of the desegregation of the College of Charleston will be on display.

Admission is free to members of the campus community.
