The rain didn't keep the riders away from this great event. Rasing over $5,000 for the Horry County Disabilities and Special Needs, local area cycle enthusist took to wet streets in the pouring rain.

WPDE News Channel 15 has a short write-up of the event here.

First report: With a slew of bipedal athletes descending on Myrtle Beach this weekend for the 2012 Bi-Lo Myrtle Beach Marathon, Ripley's Fun Run, RBC Bank 5K, and Dasani Half-Marathon their two wheeled counter parts are getting a bit of love as well with the 3rd Annual Conway Bike Ride.

Changing "gears," during the areas running season, the City of Conway is hosting the 3rd Annual Conway Area Bike Ride on Sunday, February 19th. Participants have the opportunity to ride in either a 14.2, 33.5, 63 or 100 mile benefit race with the proceeds going towards Horry County Disabilities and Special Needs, a local not-for-profit agency serving the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities such as mental retardation, head and spinal cord injuries and autism.

If you care to cheer the riders on, the 100 mile Beach ride starts at 8 a.m. at the Waccamaw Shrine Club in Conway with sub races starting every 30 minutes after that.

TheDigitel's very own Andre Pope and Bobby Altman, will be entering their very first bike ride, participating in the 14.2 mile road course. If you care to donate on their behalf you can do so here
