January 28th marks the 29th Annual Charlie Post Classic, which is run each year in honor of Dr. Charlie Post.

This event is a fundraiser and memorial to Dr Charlie Post who assisted members of the Charleston Running club for years until his untimely death. Proceeds from the race fund a scholarship for a College of Charleston Student.

The Charlie Post Classic is set to take place on beautiful Sullivan's Island at 8:30 a.m. The course is USTAF certified and very flat and fast. Temperatures vary from cold to mild and lend themselves to fast running. Cash prizes for the top 3 overall winners in each race, and awards will be given 3 deep for each age group. The 2012 race will improve on the 2011 race in several ways: more porta-jons, more water, more volunteers and better signage at the 5K/15K split.

Registration is open now and closes January 26th at noon. Act fast, because the registration rates increase in 10 days.
