Lace up your running shoes for the 5th Annual Green and Lean 5K hosted by Keep Charleston Beautiful and Friends of Keep Charleston Beautiful.

The 5K Run/Walk has been organized to promote a cleaner environment through education and action. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome at this event, so bring the whole family and your four legged friend.

The Green and Lean 5K raises funds for both Keep Charleston Beautiful and Friends of Keep Charleston Beautiful's joint mission of inspiring positive environmental action in the community through education.

Here's a bit about each organization:

Keep Charleston Beautiful is an organization dedicated to promoting the cleanliness and beautification of the City of Charleston through education, public awareness, and community involvement. Founded in 1977, Keep Charleston Beautiful works with local schools, businesses, and organizations to educate the community on the importance of waste responsibility and living a litter-free life.

Friends of Keep Charleston Beautiful is a non-profit organization that financially supports Keep Charleston Beautiful’s programs and projects in an effort to further its mission of a clean and litter-free Charleston. Its primary focus is providing environmental education to the public, especially young children, through interactive, community presentations as well as public campaigns.

So here's the deal for the actual race. This is a USA TF certified 5K that begins at Brittlebank Park, passes by The Citadel campus, circles around Hampton Park and concludes back at Brittlebank Park.
