Update December 4, 2012: Horry County Fire and Rescue posted more than 400 photos of the event on their Facebook page.

You can check them out here.

Update November 19, 2012: Our local Horry County firefighters entered the last day of competition in the top spot.

While they didn't finish there, we're proud of them.  Knowing that professionals at the top of their game will hop out of that big red truck when we've got an emergency is very reassuring.  You can check out a great video of the competition in this WMBF story.

Unfortunately, the competition will not be returning to Myrtle Beach next year.  Instead, they will take it to Vegas.

Update November 12, 2012: The firefighters are back in town this week for the 2012 Scott Safety Firefighter Combat Challenge.

The event runs from today, November 12th through Saturday, November 17th at Broadway at the Beach.  You can see the full schedule here.

You can read more about the event and the potential for it to return to Myrtle Beach again next year in this Sun News article.  They say there are 650-700 anticipated participants, including our very own Horry County firefighters.

First report November 11, 2011: Firefighters will flex their muscles, throw around their weight and perhaps the weight others, all while competing in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge, beginning today and running through Saturday, November 19, at Broadway at the Beach.
