Charleston's Stingrays face the Augusta Lynx at their season opener on Saturday, October 18, at 7:05 p.m.

Oh, and they're adding some new attractions. According to an e-mail:
The game launches the first of a series of new Kids Carnivals, a free family event that offers jump castles, games and more. The first Kids Carnival will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. The remaining carnivals are planned before every Sunday home game.

In response to fan requests, the Stingrays are also launching Two Dollar Beers All Year, a program that offers $2 Bud Light drafts until the end of the first period.

Should be fun, especially as the Stingray's picked up hot goalie Bobby Geopfert from the Augusta Lynx.

The team plays at the North Charleston Coliseum at 3300 West Montague Avenue in North Charleston. Tickets run from $14-19 and can be bought at Ticketmaster or North Charleston Coliseum outlets.

Their next home game is on October 31; get their full schedule at their Web site.

The Charleston Stingrays have been around since 1992 and are part of the ECHL (aka East Coast Hockey League).
