Citadel cadet awarded prestigious Truman Scholarship

Citadel cadet Noah Koubenec has been named as a recipient of a prestigious Truman Scholarship, a scholarship awarded to stellar students interested in pursuing careers in government and public service.

One of only 60 students in the country to receive the scholarship, Koubenec plans to study Latin American affairs in graduate school and hopes eventually to attend George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs.

According to Koubenec, the application process took an entire year and was extremely challenging. The hard work has paid of though, in an amount up to $30,000 for graduate school.

Koubenec is cut out for the work ahead and has been since an early age. The home-schooled Pilot Mountain boy is no stranger to discipline and achieving goals. See for yourself in this profile of Koubenec from 2007 in the Winston-Salem Journal.
