First reporting:

The ladies came out today -- despite the heat -- for the Charleston Cycle Chic ride for Charleston Moves on National Bike to Work Day.

Read more stories on this subject in our bike topic page.We met up with some chic lady cyclists today at Marion Square at high noon for the first Cycle Chic Ride. Most were wearing dresses, but all were eager to promote making cities bike friendly.

We rode down King Street, around the battery, up East Bay and back to Marion Square. The 3 mile ride is part of an effort to promote the biking lifestyle.  "Biking doesn't have to involve spandex", says founder Kristin Walker.  Kristin heard about Cycle Chic in Coppenhagen and thougth that the stylish women of Charleston should join the movement.

As daily bike commuters we at TheDigitel are excited about the growing bike culture in Charleston -- we've posted a number of stories in recent days on cycling in Charleston, check them out.

Charleston Moves has done a great job of promoting and working towards qualifying Charleston as a Bicylce Friendly Community (BFC), a sure sign of a forward thinking city.  Enjoy your ride!
