For the top women's tennis players, it isn't a matter of just wanting to compete in the $795,000 Family Circle Cup, the tournament follows the day after Miami’s Sony Open — making it no surprise only six of the top 20 players are currently scheduled to head to Charleston.

The tournament begins April 1 on Daniel Island.
