Stop, drop and roll right over to the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry (CML) for Fire Prevention Week.  Firefighters from local City of Charleston Fire Stations will be joining CML the week of October 11th – 15th for fire safety tips, story time, crafts and more!

Each day at 10:30am firemen will visit the Museum to read a children’s book on our antique 1939 GM Fire Truck then create a fun, fire safety related craft in our Art Room!  Each day the book and craft will be different, giving Lowcountry children an opportunity to learn a new safety tip each day!

Also, on Wednesday and Friday at 10:30am a special guest from Charleston County Consolidated 9-1-1 will be presenting a program geared toward elementary school children.  Through the use of puppets and visual aids, the program will teach children what an emergency is, what number to call and what to expect when calling 9-1-1.

The grand finale of Fire Prevention Week will be on Saturday, October 15th from 10:30am – 12:30pm when the firefighters will bring one of their own fire trucks to the Museum for children to explore.  All of these activities are free with Museum Admission or CML Membership and are recommended for all ages!

The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a mission to spark imagination, stimulate curiosity and encourage problem solving through the power of play.   Open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is $7 per person and free for children less than 12 months of age.  For more information please visit our website, www.explorecml.org.
