The Palmetto House in Summerville is a shelter where lives are changed for the better on a daily basis.

Working as a homeless shelter and soup kitchen, the Palmetto House is a temporary home for those ready and willing to get back on their feet. The residents and staff work together to form a 30-day plan, and when the goal is met, residents depart to begin their new lives in their own apartment or home.

The House operates on the kindness of volunteers and the combined efforts of the residents. The hard-working and encouraging atmosphere gives its residents motivation to get back into the work force and recognize that they can regain control their lives and income.

The Summerville Journal Scene has a great feature on shelter, go check it out.
