Charleston’s bagel shop void has been filled!

The Bagel Shop opened its doors just this past Friday and is owned by two New Yorkers, Octavio Valenzuela and Siman Aktar, who saw a niche market for their New York style bagels and deli sandwiches here in Charleston.  After researching the area they decided to open the shop at 41A George Street (the former home of beloved Gelatria Modica) and another location on the corner of King and Sheppard Street, which is still under construction.

All pastries and baked goods are made daily by French baker, Richard Lemmel.   The shop proudly uses the highest quality of products to make sandwiches that are “unlike any others in Charleston.” If you are looking for a good cup of Joe the shop also serves Intelligentsia coffee and loose leaf organic teas.

Valenzuela recommends the cheese steak which is made with the shop’s own special cheese "wiz" or the Blackened Turkey Reuben which was invented just for the new menu.

Whether you are looking for a simple breakfast bagel or a signature sandwich, The Bagel Shop is the place to go for a good quality meal Monday through Sunday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 41A George Street in downtown Charleston.
