Celebrate the birth of Burger Babies on King (update: more photos)

Update May 16: With a happy belly full of Burger Babies, I'm proud to bring you a slide show of some of the menu's top picks.

Posted above are pics of some personal favorites: the Shredded Chicken Steamed Bun, the Chorizo Burger and the good old fashioned Hamburger. Throw in some Hickory Maple Sweet Potato Tots and you've got yourself a party.

If you've yet to hit up Burger Babies, I highly recommend the place. Great food, fast service, good people.

Update May 5: Less than 24 hours after their opening, the Charleston City Paper already has a sort-of informal review of the spot up.

In it they share some thoughts on the tasty factor and some lovely no-holds barred shots of the food; check it out here

Seems like they'll be a nice addition to the King Street munchies scene.

First reporting May 4: Peace out, Tacone. Hello, Burger Babies!

At 11 a.m., Burger Babies, King Street's newest eatery, will be serving up their special breed of mini-burgers and steamed buns to the hungry masses.

So, what's Burger Babies all about? Here's what they have to say for themselves:

Take a burger, minus the boring, add some fresh, unexpected flavors inspired by street eats from around the globe, top with either a steamed or brioche bun and voila - you've got yourself a Burger Baby.

The menu, which is anchored by four brioche bun burgers and four steamed bun sandwiches, looks great. In addition to the sammies, they've got four different chip (fry) options, shakes, and fried bao (dumpling-esque nuggets) with ice cream for dessert.

Burger Babies is located at 293 King Street; check it out.

Heads up: For today's grand opening, they're offing a free sandwich to their Twitter followers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
