South Carolina's most visited ocean reef will receive additional coral building structures form a local area business.

The Jim Caudle Reef, an artificial reef located directly off the North Myrtle Beach coast, will receive additional concrete barriers from Myrtle Beach based Ready Mixed Concrete and its parent company ARGOS USA.

Located two and a half miles off of the coast of Little River, the artificial reef contains abandoned boats, old military equipment, tanker trailers and now recycled concrete molds from ARGOS USA.

The Department of Natural Resources along with The Jim Caudle Reef Foundation help oversee the development of the artificial reef. The reef enhances fishing and aids fish stocks by creating a habitat that gives back to the Grand Strands tourism industry. Around 10% of all trips to artificial reefs in SC are taken to the Jim Caudle Reef.
