Update 10/7 (CCU station): Plugin Carolina continues moving forward with their EV charging station initiative by getting Coastal Carolina University set up.

The Coastal Carolina Sustainability Initiative updated their Facebook page this afternoon with a photo of a freshly unwrapped charging station. Follow Sustain Coastal on Facebook or check out their website for more information.

First Report: Ocean Lakes Family Campground has set up the first electric charging stations in Myrtle Beach to serve guests who tow their electric cars to the beach. EV (Electric Vehicle) owners are excited about this news. With campgrounds commonly associated with golf carts, EV charging stations are a natural fit.

While we have not seen EV's flood the market, a South Carolina non-profit company called Plugin Carolina has been educating the public on the environmental, economic, and national security benefits of plugin vehicles since 2006. Currently, they are working on helping launch a few more EV charging stations in both Myrtle and North Myrtle Beach including a station at Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College

Dawn Bryant of The Sun News has a full report on what Ocean Lakes is planning on doing with its charging stations. Read it here.
