What are these things, anyway?

Horry Telephone Cooperative is giving back to the community through it's environmentally friendly recycling contest where everyone wins something.

The program is in effect from March 14 through May 2, 2011. You can bring any old telephone book or cell phone to any HTC location. Be prepared to tell them which school you want to receive credit for your donation. For your trouble, you'll score a Frosty coupon, a treat from Auntie Annie's, and a round of mini-golf.

For each cell phone recycled, HTC will donate a minimum of $1.00 per phone all the way up to $39 per phone to the Horry County Schools’ Fund for Homeless Students.

For each directory that is delivered to any HTC branch office location, technology prizes will be awarded based on two criteria: 1) the schools that recycle the most directories, and 2) the schools that recycle the most directories based on the number of students in the school. First place ($2,500), second place ($1,000) and third place ($500) prizes will be awarded in each category. Technology prizes will include desktop computers, laptops, smartboards, mobis and more.

The program is in effect from March 14 through May 2, 2011. The Sun News has a nice little write up as well.
