North Charleston claims dibs on Mount Pleasant's trees

About 65 of the palmetto trees that are being dug up for the Johnnie Dodds Boulevard road-widening in Mount Pleasant will have a new home in North Charleston.

According to North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey, the city has claimed the trees--and at no charge. Currently, city officials are trying to figure out exactly where those palmetto trees will go. One of the spots to receive trees? Around Zucker Middle School and the Charleston Air Force Base on Dorchester Road.

It's always nice to see things not go to waste--and especially to get the news on Earth Day!
