Myrtle Beach Pet Friendly, and a look at pet tourism

Flickr user Paul B. Reynolds

This past weekend when I was at the Duck Race at Barefoot Landing I noticed a booth for MyrtleBeachPetFriendlyResorts.com.

Myrtle Beach Pet Friendly is a site dedicated to both local and visiting pet lovers and a great resource for information on local pet sitters/walkers, boarding and kennels, pet charities, grooming, and even pet-friendly restaurants

The biggest draw for visitors is that Myrtle Beach Pet Friendly has a great list of local resorts, hotels and rental companies that are all pet-friendly. Another tourist pet website is BringFido.com.  They have an even more extensive list of Myrtle Beach pet-friendly places to stay, attractions, events, and resources.

Pet tourism is expected to grow with the baby boomers retiring, drawing from pensions and those lucky enough getting inheritance from their parents as mentioned in this Post and Courier article from this past March. Hospitality.net delves even further into the topic of luxury pet tourism with their 2009 article, "Why The Future Is Four Legs Not Two: The Potential For Pet Tourism."

Make sure to check out Myrtle Beach Pet Friendly and BringFido.com. Also, we've decided to use their lists and make a nifty map for quick reference, so check that out below - it's a great reference for your friends when they come to town with their four-legged companion and or if any local wants to bring their pets on a nice staycation.
