Holiday Classics Converge in 21st Annual Charleston Christmas Special

The 21st Charleston Christmas Special is a blend of old and new – from favorite returning cast members to entertainers coming to the show for the first time. Former Broadway stars and Charleston producers Brad and Jennifer Moranz have created everyone’s favorite holiday show featuring classic Christmas favorites blended with new holiday tunes. The Charleston Christmas Special runs Dec. 8-23 at the Charleston Music Hall.

Notable newcomer is James Davis Jr., who is joining the show as musical director. Davis lives in New York City and is the director of music ministries & fine arts at the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church. He is also the associate music director for Opera Ebony. Davis has supervised musical productions at Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Apollo Theater. He was worked with such notables as Ashford & Simpson, Alicia Keys, Jessye Norman, John Legend, Lyle Lovett and Wynton Marsalis.

Regular show attendees will recognize returning singers Tiffany Parker, Michael Minor, Garrett Graham, Malia Tippets and Tim McManus. They will be joined on stage by new performers Damon McToy and Alina John. Robbi Kenney returns on violin to play “Carol of the Bells.” And Mount Pleasant teenage singing sensation Kindred Moore will be back to sing to “O Holy Night.” Another talented teen, Jenna Flaherty, 14, is making her debut in the Charleston Christmas Special.

“If I had to sum up the show in one word, it would be ‘fun,’” said Brad Moranz, who also stars in the show with his wife and co-producer, Jennifer Moranz. “This show will definitely lift your spirits.”
