Read more stories on this subject in our South Carolina Arts Commission topic page. The amount awarded to each county was: $217,514 to Charleston; $43,142 to Berkeley; and $18,168 to Dorchester.

In all $1,511,150 was awarded to South Carolina communities, artists, arts organizations and schools.

“Although these grant amounts reflect a reduction in state funding over the past year, these annual awards continue to help make the arts available to schools and communities across our state," said Ken May, acting executive director of the S.C. Arts Commission.
