Update October 12, 2012: Coast RTA says that 24,925 riders took advantage of the Entertainment Express this summer, making the new service a success.

Overall, ridership of the Grand Strand's public transportation service was up about 35% from the summer months of 2011, according to this Sun News report.

Update April 5, 2012:  Last weekend the Coast RTA started their "Entertainment Express" route and the feedback has been positive.

It runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Saturday until Memorial Day weekend, when it will run daily.  The service is free and, according to this WBTW report, it had 250 riders during it's maiden voyage weekend.

First report:  Starting Friday, March 30, 2012 Coast RTA will add what they call an 'Entertainment Express route that'll be free to ride. '

The Entertainment Express route will take passengers from Ocean Boulevard to Broadway at the Beach with occasional stops at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. This new service is aimed at getting tourists to some of downtown Myrtle Beach's most popular destinations safely, and hopefully alleviate some traffic woes.

This party bus, of sorts, will run every Friday and Saturday until Memorial Day and then daily in the summer.
