Despite speculation, AirTran Airways says it will remain in the Lowcountry as the only discount air carrier at the Charleston International Airport.

Here's a word from The Post and Courier concerning the threat of cheap flights:
Featuring 'With the downturn in the national economy, AirTran has experienced a drop in passenger traffic that has put Charleston at risk of losing low-cost air service,' the chamber said in a message to some members Tuesday.

The carrier even promises to add flights to their regimen, allowing passengers to fly cheaper more often. For more on this topic, check out the full story at The Post and Courier.
