Charleston Ports hoping to take advantage of Panama Canal project

As the Panama Canal undergoes it's biggest expansion project in history, the State Ports Authority is discussing ways to beef up local ports and deepen the Charleston Harbor to accommodate a "3 million container opportunity" for Charleston.

The Post and Courier has a brief posting on what SPAchief Jim Newsome had to say about the plans during today's Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Developers Council's annual growth forum and promises a more detailed report tomorrow.
