Large importer eyed for Jedburg industrial park

Berkeley County and many other state officials are optomistic that they may be close to landing a new industrial customer for South Carolina and its port.

The prospect has been dubbed "Project Neptune" and would be located at the new Jedburg industrial park.

The Charleston Regional Business Journal has a lengthier write-up, while The Post and Courier has a few more details.

Typically the Charleston market has received much competition from Savannah's port as our souther sister focused earlier on stimulating a multitude of distribution methods and facilities.

But it sounds like the Charleston ports could use good news. Not only is business way down, but the highlight of a recent tour of the facilities was that there would soon be more capacity at a new terminal.
